Overview:

The Challenge

One part, many numbers — and buyers who type them imperfectly. Eker Bijon manufactures wheel bolts, wheel nuts, brake drums, brake discs and related automotive components, and sells into export markets worldwide. Across a range of nearly two thousand catalog items, almost every part answers to more than one number: the company's own stock code, original-equipment (OEM) references, competitor equivalents, and written variations of each. Buyers usually arrive with whichever single number they happen to have — sometimes mistyped, sometimes missing its leading zeros. The company needed a catalog platform where any of those numbers still leads to the right product, and where the team can maintain thousands of records without editing them one by one.

The Solution

A B2B parts catalog platform engineered around part-number search: a public catalog site, a modern API backend, and a desktop admin application for the catalog team, with quote requests captured on the same platform.

  • OEM cross-reference search: every product carries its original, competitor, cross and variation references, so a buyer can start from any number they know — even a rival's — and land on the matching Eker part.
  • Typo-tolerant search engineering: an in-house search library built on Meilisearch adds n-gram substring matching, tunable typo tolerance and part-number normalization, so zero-padded and unpadded forms of the same code resolve to the same product.
  • Vehicle compatibility matching: products are linked to brand, model and engine data, letting visitors filter the catalog the way they actually shop — by vehicle or by product group.
  • Five-language catalog model: the catalog data structure is designed to carry Turkish, English, French, Russian and Spanish content, keeping the platform ready for the company's export markets.
  • Search analytics: every query is logged, giving the company a factual record of which parts and numbers buyers look for — including the searches that come back empty.
  • Desktop admin with bulk import: a self-updating desktop application manages the catalog and loads stock, OEM-reference, vehicle-compatibility and technical-definition data in bulk from Excel, with images and technical drawings held in cloud object storage.

The Results

  • A search-first catalog, live: visitors search by OEM code straight from the homepage and reach product pages directly, with nearly two thousand items filterable by brand, model and product group.
  • Any known number works, as cross-reference data means a buyer no longer needs the Eker code to find the Eker part.
  • Resilient to real-world typing, with a search layer designed to absorb typos and number-format differences instead of returning nothing.
  • A catalog managed at scale, as bulk Excel import and the desktop admin keep thousands of records maintainable without item-by-item editing.
  • Demand made visible, with logged searches giving the company evidence for range and content decisions.

The Eker Bijon project shows what disciplined search engineering does for a B2B catalog: whichever number the buyer knows, it resolves to the right part.
